Updates to Practice Directions, Forms, and Web Content

We’ve made improvements to our Practice Directions (PDs), forms, and related resources to enhance clarity, consistency, and accessibility for all users. These updates reflect feedback from our system partners, as well as our commitment to continuous improvement.

Key updates on our website include:

  1. Practice Directions (PDs)
  • Reformatted PDs for improved readability
  • Updated language in Practice Directions # 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 35 and 39 to reflect current practices and terminology
    • For example, in section 3.11 of Practice Direction #39 – Fees and Expenses, the statement, “The WSIAT may publish its fee schedule from time to time.” will be replaced with “The WSIAT posts a table of rates.”  This change aligns with the posting of a new Table of Rates to the website.
  • Direct links to related PDs for easier navigation
  1. Notice of Appeal, Response and E-Share Forms
  • Form updates:
    • Clearer language, new data fields (for example, language preference, titles, province, country), and links to relevant Practice Directions for improved navigation and accessibility.
    • The option to identify hearing format preference has been removed from the Notice of Appeal Forms and Response Forms. This change was made to streamline appeal processing and improve overall efficiency. The WSIAT will continue to make an initial determination on the hearing format and identify it in the Issues on Appeal letter. If a party objects to the format, they may request an alternative format during the disclosure period. Please see section 6.0 in Practice Direction #5 – Hearing Formats for more information.
  • Process improvements:
    • Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now only required at profile login
    • Additional E-Share recipient option added
  1. Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Mediation
  1. Hearing Expense Claim Form
  • New consolidated, auto-calculating form for all hearing expense claims
  • Updated terminology and clearer instructions
  • New WSIAT Table of Rates published

We’re also working on future improvements, including a consolidated and bookmarked PDF of our Practice Directions for easier navigation, updated Right to Sue Forms, and HTML versions of our Practice Directions to support browser-based translation.
